Wallet setup guide

How to set up a burner wallet and connect it to Raven — step by step.

STEP 1 Create a burner wallet in MetaMask

Click your avatar → "Add account or hardware wallet" → "Add a new account". Give it a clearly non-serious name like "Raven Burner". Do not reuse an existing account. Raven holds this wallet's signing key — if Raven is ever breached, only the funds in this wallet are at risk.

STEP 2 Copy the burner's address

This is the address you'll fund in the next step.

STEP 3 Fund the burner with USDC on Polygon

From an exchange (Coinbase, Kraken, etc.)

Withdraw USDC on the Polygon network. ⚠ "USDC" and "USDC on Polygon" are different assets — the exchange has a network dropdown. Pick Polygon.

From another wallet

Use MetaMask's Send flow from a wallet that already holds Polygon USDC.

Gas (POL)

You also need a small amount of POL (Polygon's native gas token) for transaction fees. Most users don't have POL — acquire a tiny amount via a DEX swap or a no-KYC faucet.

STEP 4 Deposit into Polymarket

Polymarket uses a proxy-wallet flow: you don't trade directly from your EOA, you deposit into the proxy. Connect the burner to Polymarket and do the initial deposit.

STEP 5 Generate Polymarket API credentials

Polymarket's API key flow is tucked inside account settings. You'll need to capture four things: api_key, api_secret, api_passphrase, and the funder_address (the Polymarket proxy address, not the EOA).

STEP 6 Export the burner's private key from MetaMask

MetaMask → account menu → "Account details" → "Show private key" → enter MetaMask password. Exporting a private key is the riskiest step in this guide. Only do it immediately before pasting into Raven, and close the MetaMask dialog as soon as you're done.

STEP 7 Paste into Raven's Connect form

Go to Settings → Polymarket, click "Show connect form", fill in all five fields, tick the acknowledgement checkbox, and submit. Raven encrypts the credentials on the server and the private key is immediately cleared from the form DOM.

STEP 8 Verify the connection

You should see a "Polymarket connected" toast. The Settings page will show a connected badge and your funder address.

FAQ

What if I lose the burner's seed phrase?
You lose the funds. That's the point — don't fund a burner with more than you'd miss.
Can I reuse a wallet I already had?
No. The entire security model of a burner depends on it being isolated. If you connect an existing wallet, you're connecting every asset in it.
How do I withdraw profits back to my main wallet?
Use the Polymarket UI to withdraw to the burner's EOA, then MetaMask → Send to your main wallet. Never paste your main wallet's private key into Raven.
